Inklination
Before and After Your Tattoo
YOUR APPOINTMENT:
You will be given a leaflet advising you how to prepare for your tattoo. (LINK Prep doc). Please read this carefully and follow the guidelines – they are there for your benefit and will make your experience more pleasant and will influence the outcome of your tattoo. For instance if you arrive under the influence of alcohol you will not be tattooed as the capillaries in your skin will be dilated (hence the warm blush associated with drinking) and much of the ink will be lost in addition to the fact the tattooist will not be able to see what they are doing properly if there is excessive bleeding. The same applies to sunburn. Be warned.
If you are attending your first appointment at Inklination you will be asked to sign a consent form. This will confirm that you undertake to care for your tattoo as we will advise and understand the procedure you are undertaking.
The form also includes some basic health questions, these are there for the protection of both you, the customer, and us, the artists. For instance if a client is on blood thinning drugs or is an insulin dependant diabetic we will take the tattooing procedure a little slower, allowing adequate healing time and reducing the chance of bleeding which would affect how the ink is retained. If you have any health or medication issues you are concerned about please discuss these either when you make your appointment or before the tattoo begins.
At the end of your tattoo you will be advised about aftercare and you will receive a leaflet about this too. (link aftercare) DO read it and take note. We see very many tattoos which are spoilt by lack of aftercare. This advice is for your benefit and we do not give it just to make your life difficult as some people seem to think! It is imperative to keep the tattoo clean to avoid infection, it is no good spending 3 days in the mud at a festival with no washing facilities straight after your tattoo and then blaming the studio that it has gone manky – you’d be amazed – it happens!!
The other most important factors are no picking and no exposure to the sun until healed.
